Where spikes are the right choice
- Window sills and external ledges where pigeons sit and leave droppings on the wall below.
- Parapet walls and cornices along a facade.
- Signboards, name boards and light fittings used as perches.
- Ledges above entrances, where droppings are a hygiene and appearance issue.
- The top surfaces of AC outdoor units and their brackets.
Where spikes are not enough
Spikes protect a surface, not a volume. If birds are entering a balcony, duct or terrace, they will simply land somewhere else inside it. In those cases netting is the correct solution, sometimes combined with spikes on the ledges outside.
Wide ledges also need more than one row of spikes, otherwise birds land behind the strip. We measure the depth before quoting.
Installation
Spike strips are fixed with an outdoor-grade adhesive on smooth surfaces such as tile, stone and metal, or mechanically fixed with screws on concrete and masonry. Strips are butted end to end so there is no landing gap between them.
Existing droppings and nesting material are cleared before fixing, since spikes bonded over debris come loose.
